We want to say a massive congratulations to every student at Totton College who received their results this morning. We know that getting to this point takes resilience, hard work, and courage — whatever your result, we’re here to explore next steps with you.

We’re proud to share that our students have once again achieved GCSE Maths and English resit pass rates well above published comparable national rates.

Behind this headline are the individual efforts of every student who sat an exam or completed an assessment this year. Read some of their stories below.

“We are so very proud of all our students receiving GCSE results today. This is a moment to celebrate together with your loved ones all of your hard work, commitment, and resilience – every step you have taken to this success today matters, and you should feel delighted with what you have achieved.

‘At Nacro, we believe passionately in creating more chances for young people and helping you make the most of the opportunities ahead. We believe in your potential, and we’re here to support your next steps, whether that’s through further study with us or through the advice, guidance and signposting you need to move forward.

“GCSE results day is not only about grades, it is about doors opening and the opportunities that lie ahead. Today is the start of that next chapter. Be ambitious, be confident, and keep moving towards who you want to be.”

Elise Temple – Nacro’s Principal and Director of Education and Skills

Student’s stories

Christopher

Christopher achieved a Distinction* in Business and a grade 4 in GCSE English.

“I hated English at school, but I enjoyed it here, and had a good teacher. Helen is the best Learning Support Assistant I have ever had – she’s a comedic genius! My business teacher Kristina will also be very happy at my result.”

Layla-Mai

Layla-Mai picked up her certificate today for her Level 1 hair and beauty course.

“I’m feeling a bit emotional to be honest..I really enjoyed the hair and beauty course. The staff here, especially Natalie and Sharon, are brilliant, and I’m now looking forward to next year.”

What to do if you’re disappointed with your results

We understand how tough it can feel when things don’t go as planned. Remember, this isn’t the end of your journey. Here are some helpful steps you can take:

  • Share how you’re feeling with someone you trust.
  • Take care of yourself – recognise and celebrate the hard work you’ve put in, whatever the outcome.
  • If you are a Nacro Education student, speak to the staff who are on-site today. They’re here to support you by explaining your options, such as resitting exams next year, appealing results, or getting advice from careers staff and the National Careers Service.
  • If you are not a Nacro student, speak to a staff member at your school or education provider – they will be able to help you with your options or signpost you to other support.
